More Deaths Possibly Linked to Baxter’s Heparin

February 29, 2008--The FDA said the number of deaths possibly associated with Baxter International’s brand of heparin had risen to 21 from 4. Baxter expanded a recall to include virtually all of its heparin products. The FDA has yet to identify the root cause of the problem, and has not concluded that the Chinese plant which supplied much of the active ingredient for Baxter’s heparin was responsible.
