Facing Generic Plavix Threat in
Europe

2008--Generic drug company
Schweizerhall said it is close to winning approval for a generic version
of Sanofi-Aventis’ blood-thinning drug Plavix (clopidogrel) in
Germany
and
Luxembourg
. Plavix is patent protected until 2013, but nonetheless, Schweizerhall
said it was close to launching a generic version. Sanofi said in a
statement it would defend its intellectual property rights, including
patent protection, in
