Sanofi Seeks Research Partners in China

April 4, 2008--Paris-based Sanofi-Aventis aims to strike research partnerships with half a dozen Chinese universities and state-funded laboratories this year, said Marc Cluzel, Sanofi’s head of R&D, in an interview with the WSJ. Several big drug companies have announced plans to build R&D centers in China, but Sanofi prefers to strike collaborations with existing labs because it wants to tap into the innovation that already exists in these labs, Cluzel said.
