Biotech Funds Feeling the Pinch

May 11, 2008--Biotech companies and/or their products may represent an attractive means to bolster Pharma pipelines. Despite their position as potentially attractive targets, across Europe, biotech funds have seen their assets under management decline from $18.7 billion at the end of 2001 to $4.8 billion as of February, according to data from Lipper Feri. Net outflows increased to $1.4 billion last year. In the US , healthcare and biotech funds saw net outflows of $5.4 billion in 2007, according to EPFR Global, although remaining assets under management are $55 billion. Financial Times
