Takeda Reportedly Buying Out Abbott’s Stake in US Joint Venture;
Abbott Hit by Antitrust Suit

Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. is allegedly planning to spend about $5 billion to buy out Abbott Laboratories in their 50-50 US venture, TAP Pharmaceutical Products. The deal would be the biggest overseas acquisition by a Japanese drug firm. Reuters (3/19)

Regulators from 18 states and the District of Columbia are suing Abbott Laboratories and Solvay unit Fournier, alleging the drugmakers illegally conspired to prevent and delay low-cost generic versions of their TriCor (fenofibrate) cholesterol drug. Reuters (3/18)
